About the Author
Born in the US, Sandra A. Gutierrez is a bilingual, award-winning journalist, food historian, professional cooking instructor, and author of six cookbooks. She is considered one of the top national experts on Latin American Foodways and on the United States Southern Regional cuisine, and she is one of only a handful of cooks to have discovered a culinary movement in the US (the New Southern-Latino movement, 1996). In 2021, Gutierrez was honored by the Smithsonian Institute as a Woman to Know and as one of the seven Latinas Who Shaped American Culture. Her most recent book is Latinísmo: Home Recipes from the Twenty-One Countries of Latin America. She lives in Cary, North Carolina.
