Description
Independent author and lecturer Clare Cogbill (A Dog Like Ralph, The Diary of a Human and a Dog, A Dog Like Peggy) shares her family's gluten free vegan recipes. Clare has been vegan for animals and the environment since 2002, and in 2015 her (also vegan) husband was diagnosed as being coeliac. Their vegan diet immediately had to also become gluten free. Straight away the contents of their cupboards and fridge were adapted to suit his diagnosis. Some recipes they changed, some they created from scratch, going back to the drawing board - this was especially important for vegan gluten free cakes, which can be difficult to make. Clare has also benefited by excluding gluten from her diet. It is not for everyone, but she feels healthier this way. All 120 recipes are 100% vegan and gluten free. The recipes will help those embarking on being vegan, or those already vegan and having to, like they have, also follow a diet free of gluten.A great book with no frills, just easy recipes (no photos to keep the cost down) suitable for someone new to veganism and a gluten free diet. Please be aware this is a second print and the recipes are the same as the original version.
About the Author
Clare Cogbill was born in the mid-1960's. From an early age she developed a deep passion for animals and their welfare. She has fifteen years experience of working with domesticated animals in rescue shelters, and as a veterinary nurse in both welfare and private practice environments. She also has almost 25 years experience as a lecturer, with much of her teaching being about the human-animal bond. She is passionate about reading, preferring biographies to fiction, and where those books contain some reference to animals, all the better. She also enjoys reading books which have been made into films, but still can't quite work out whether it's better to read the book or to see the film first! Clare is besotted by dogs and anything four-legged, although she prefers creatures to have no more than four legs! Most of her adult life has been spent working with, or talking about, animals. She lives in Scotland with her husband and three rescue dogs. She has one grown up son who has now flown the nest and is following his own dreams. Clare became vegetarian in 1977 at the age of twelve and vegan in 2002. Her whole family is vegan, and their one great regret is that they didn't become vegan sooner.
