About the Author
The late W. Thomas Hutz received his bachelor's degree in biology and English from Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio. He then continued his education at Duke University in marine invertebrate zoology. Tom was also a member of the Coast Guard Reserve. He worked as a marine biologist at the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries State Lobster Hatchery and Research Station on Martha's Vineyard and Sandwich, Massachusetts, where he helped develop a marine fisheries management policy. He then worked in various private industries, developing and maintaining lobster holding systems. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed capturing the beauty of New England. Estelle Corke spent much of her childhood drawing. Her passion for drawing led her to study graphic design in college and launched a career in advertising and magazine publishing. She eventually found her way to children's books and now has more than 30 years of experience illustrating children's books, and has published worldwide. She enjoys traditional watercolor and gouache painting and regularly teaches watercolor classes to adult beginners. She lives in Wiltshire, England with her husband and Poppy, a little black and white dog.
