About the Author
Ian Patrick Murray wrote this guidebook when he was in Third Grade at Eugene Field Elementary School in Manhattan, Kansas. He drew upon the Murray Family tradition of making gingerbread houses during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. The Murray family (Ian, Jonathan and parents, Ann and John) had been making gingerbread houses with the children for about 5 years. This guide follows and illustrates the construction of one such house and provides examples of gingerbread constructions from past and subsequent buildings for about 19 years--from 1990 to 2009. The examples range from simple cottages to King Ludwidg's Castle in Bavaria, to the Taj Mahal in India.
