On August 7, 1970, a revolt by Black prisoners in a Marin County courthouse stunned the nation. Bettina Aptheker is Professor of Women's Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is the author of Tapestries of Life: Women's Work, Women's Consciousness, and the Meaning of Daily Experience. ANGELA DAVIS is now Professor in the History of Consciousness Program at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
