Anomalous Events in an American Suburb is a 300 plus page science fiction, romantic fantasy, action thriller with something for everyone. Part history, part mythology, the novel touches upon actual government anti-gravity research, metaphysical romance, the Eleusinian Mysteries, Harry Truman, Cole Younger's lost treasure, Carl Jung, and nuclear disarmament.
Kansas City attorney Essie Kemp runs into a beautiful woman in a grocery store's dairy aisle, who reads his every thought. The same day, while hiking to the top of a hill in a rural area, he has a close encounter with a low flying, lenticular, silver disk. Several days later, he encounters the same woman, Zoe Eliades, at a social event. They quickly grow obsessed with each other. Essie's client, Ray Langstaff, is a government scientist who runs a secret program at the Department of Energy's Kansas City National Security Campus, a massive operation with over seven thousand employees. He reveals to Essie what they've discovered, as well as what they know about Zoe's family.
The author practices law in the Kansas City area. Prior to law school, he was a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy, during which the government sent him on several all-expense paid cruises to far away seas and strange lands. In the course of his legal practice, he has represented many extraordinary, and occasionally challenging, individuals.
In addition to this tale, he's authored a number of published legal articles and Supreme Court briefs. They are all nonfiction, though some may argue otherwise.
