The Thief of Numbers - Paperback

A rebel heroine, AI ruling lord, and timeless love in a new dark and hopeful novel from Philip K. Dick nominee, Kay Kenyon.

After the apocalypse, 24-year-old Tamar plies her trade of thievery to help her family survive. Her home is an isolated walled city ruled by an embodied AI called the Silver. Only a disloyal few even think of rebelling.

Tamar is one of them. Then she meets Rafayel, an immortal, and an agent of the Silver. With that encounter she is suddenly propelled from her familiar slums to the deadly intrigues of the Silver's palace. At first Rafayel means to use Tamar to his own ends-until she discovers a massive conspiracy, one rooted in the past and pointing to an unthinkable future. Opposing it calls for a thief's special skills. . . and a courage Tamar isn't sure she can summon.

Success hinges on an intricate game of numbers, one that can redeem or kill. Tamar will count on a small band of supporters, people like her who want to bring down the walls. But in the end, it may be Tamar alone who must play the perilous game.
