Description
Lonnie the Loon learns he must leave his home lake because of the cold winter in the north. While flying south, Lonnie is blown off course and ends up on a desert lake. He forms a friendship with an unlikely character, a Quail. Quincy the Quail teaches Lonnie about his home for the winter.

Kinney, Davina: - Davina Kinney illustrated her first book when she was 21 years old.Renner, Barbara: - Barbara Renner and her husband have lived in Phoenix, Arizona for over 40 years. They tell and re-tell many touching and humorous stories about their family camping excursions around the state. When Barbara retired from teaching, they started visiting Minnesota in the summer. Barbara coined the term Sun Birds to describe their exodus from the desert heat to the land of 10,000 lakes. This is where she fell in love with their state bird, the Common Loon. Barbara currently enjoys visiting libraries and elementary school classrooms to read her books and present writing lessons. In addition to supporting literacy in education, she loves to travel, be outdoors, and walk her dog, Larry.
