This unique, award-winning picture book introduces readers to a young boy who is afraid of starting school. Summer is nearly over. The old aunts have come to visit, and autumn is in the air. Everything is ready for Garmann's first day of school, but he is still afraid. And--despite his best efforts--he hasn't lost a single tooth yet!

Published in over twenty countries, Garmann's Summer has received honors across the globe, including the Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Award, a Batchelder Honor, and the BolognaRagazzi Award.

About the Author
Stian Hole is an acclaimed Norwegian author and artist. His children's books include Anna's Heaven and Night Guard (both Eerdmans), and he has also created book covers for readers of all ages. One summer evening, Stian saw a familiar fear in his oldest son's eyes: he was afraid of starting school. Soon Stian began writing the story that became Garmann's Summer.

Don Bartlett has translated many books by Scandinavian authors, including crime novels by Jo Nesbø and picture books like Anna's Heaven, Samira and the Skeletons, and John Jensen Feels Different (all Eerdmans). In 2016, he was awarded the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit in rank of Knight, Class I, for his work as a translator of Norwegian literature. Don lives in Norfolk, England.
