Description
This book is the start of an effort to organize and bring some structure to this area of numismatics - i.e. to break down the vast numbers of different varieties (dies and die combinations) into related groups that we call Families. A Family of non-regal varieties is basically a number of coins that have been grouped together, as most likely having come out of the same minting operation at about the same time. A Family group is held together due to sharing of dies between members of the group, sharing of die making punches among the varieties, and similarities in the style of how the coins in the group look. This concept is explored further within the monograph. This is the first volume of a series of monographs that will try to categorize and put order to the large number of varieties of King George II and King George III non-regal coppers.
