He is the named plaintiff in Obergefell v. Hodges, the landmark case of the Supreme Court of the United States which ruled the fundamental right to marriage is guaranteed to same-sex couples. Jim is President of the WebQ Board of Directors and sits on advisory boards for the GLBT Historical Society and Mattachine Society of Washington, DC.
