About the Author
Chris Ryall is the co-founder and publisher at Syzygy Publishing, an imprint at Image Comics, that launched in January 2022 with the Eisner-nominated JOE HILL'S RAIN. He is also the writer and co-creator of Syzygy titles ZOMBIES VS. ROBOTS Onyx, THE HOLLOWS and TALES OF SYZPENSE, among other titles. Prior to forming Syzygy, Ryall spent nearly two decades developing unique stories from multiple sides of the business. In 2004, he joined comic book publisher IDW Publishing as the company's Editor-in-Chief and developed hundreds of original properties as both editor and writer. He worked with creators Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez in the development of Locke & Key, serving as editor on the acclaimed comic series and as an EP on its three-season Netflix series. In 2010, he was named IDW's first Chief Creative Officer, as he was instrumental in forming publishing partnerships with high-profile licensors such as Hasbro, Nickelodeon, Universal, Disney, Lucasfilm, and many more. He left IDW in late 2017 to join Robert Kirkman and David Alpert's Skybound Entertainment as Editor-in Chief, Special Projects, before returning to IDW as the company's President, Publisher, and CCO in late 2018. In addition to Syzygy Publishing, Ryall is an EP on BBC Studios' in-development EVE STRANGER; co-creator/co-EP of a new scripted series in development at Paramount; and author of the 2024 Abrams ComicArts release, The Mighty Marvel Calendar Book: A Visual History. Ashley Wood is Australian comic book artist and award-winning illustrator known for his cover art, concept design and his work as an art director. Wood initially worked in both the UK and international comic book industries, working on characters such as the British character Judge Dredd, before breaking into the US market, where he worked for such companies as Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Wood has also worked for Image Comics, creating graphic novels and cover art for the various SPAWN properties of Todd McFarlane and more. Wood generally works in mixed media, often combining oil painting with digital artmaking.
