Description
Letters to a Savage follows the epic tale of Spanish conquistador, Rodrigo Diaz, during the fall of the mighty Aztec Empire. Blind to the truth of why the Spanish have invaded this foreign land, Rodrigo fights for a cause that he soon discovers to be based on lies and deceit. After witnessing the atrocities committed against the "savage" Aztec people by his fellow conquistadors and their commander, Hernan Cortes, Rodrigo becomes disillusioned with the Spanish cause and questions his loyalty to the expedition. Betrayed and left to die after discovering a devastating truth, Rodrigo is saved by the most unlikely of people: a beautiful young Aztec woman named Atzi. An unbreakable bond forms between the two young lovers of different worlds as Rodrigo slowly abandons his old life and finds a new home amongst the Aztec people in their capital city of Tenochtitlan. Past friendships are strained, and new alliances are forged from the fires of a dying world. Cortes and the Spanish conquistadors, along with their superior weapons and technology, carve a path of death and destruction as they attempt to eradicate the Aztec people and their way of life. Rodrigo must navigate his way through an uncertain and intriguing new world as the countrymen from his old life come to destroy what he has come to love. Letters to a Savage uncovers the true identity of the real savages and transcends the perception of what it means to fight, love, and even die for a cause greater than one's self.
