Pierce, Alexis: - Meet Alexis Pierce from the inner city of Saint Louis, Missouri! Pierce is a phenomenal global educator who started her journey graduating from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. At AAMU, she received her Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Before graduating, she earned and was awarded a chance to become a corps member of Teach for America which allowed her teaching career to begin in Houston, Texas in one of the largest school districts in the United States, the Houston Independent School District. After three years of serving in Title 1 Schools in Houston, Pierce extended her positive impacts in education abroad. Pierce spent one year in Abu Dhabi/Dubai and two years in Wuhan, China spreading her joy of education. Alexis Pierce is a firm believer in transforming your dreams into a reality. She loves to empower all children to achieve their goals and reach success no matter their circumstances. She is often transparent as she shares her childhood background, as well as various obstacles she had to overcome. Pierce is a highly relatable author and her goal is to reach and teach as many kids as possible. She wants to instill in them that progress is a process and you must work hard to achieve your dreams.Colebrooke, Lavana: - LaVana is an illustrator living her dream. She has a 7 year old heart that helps her to create beautiful, colorful, and playful illustrations. Some of her favorite drawings are those of mermaids, fairies, and illustrating peoples' dreams. Her favorite activities besides creating is hanging out with family, baking, playing laser tag with her cat, and doing outside activities. LaVana believes that every illustration she creates has a story worth more than a 1,000 words.
