Description
About the Series
This a children's chapter book that follows Charlie and Baxter, an eight-year-old sister and ten-year-old brother, who discover a time-traveling robot named Odyssey in their basement. By commanding Odyssey through a programming language, Charlie and Baxter travel through different historical times to help significant historical events occur.
Purpose of Series
The purpose and goal of this series are to expose children to programming at an early age, to represent African American children in a time-travel fantasy, share historical events, and to teach lessons about problem-solving, being courageous, and never giving up.
Synopsis of book #1
Where did the robot come from? Before Charlie and Baxter can find out, they travel back in time to help Henry 'Box' Brown escape from slavery. Can they save him before Mom and Dad realize they are gone... or are they stuck in 19th-century America forever?
