- Relief From Stuttering: Laying the Groundwork to Speak with Greater Ease
Description
A compact resource "Relief From Stuttering" offers direction and support to individuals working on their own or in support groups to speak with greater ease and information to share with family, friends, and acquaintances to help them understand more fully what it can mean to have a stuttering problem and what can be involved resolving one. "Relief From Stuttering" reminds us we are more likely to experience ease by embracing what we fear than by resisting it. Inspirational in tone, practical in application these 12 papers presented at International Stuttering Awareness Day Online Conferences by Ellen-Marie Silverman, Ph.D., Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, includes "My Personal Experience with Stuttering and Meditation," "Creating Conditions for Change," "My Stuttering is Me," "Doing the Work," "What to Expect from Mindfulness," and the deeply reflective, "Why Seek Therapy." With commentaries on each written especially for this book, the collection highlights Honoring Self-Worth, Fearlessly Facing Fear, Charting a Path of Change, and Using Helpful Assessment Metrics as means for experiencing desired change. Dr. Ellen-Marie Silverman, who has had a stuttering problem and who has been helping people with stuttering problems speak more as they wish for more than 40 years, presents a sustainable infra-structure to support the intent and process of speaking with greater ease and doing so more consistently. Dr. Silverman is the author of "Mindfulness & Stuttering. Using Eastern Strategies to Speak with Greater Ease" and The Jason Loring Trilogy, a life-long story about living with a stuttering problem. It includes the children's novel "Jason's Secret" and its sequels "winning," and "SheGate."
