Peace in Blue Ridge is about to be shattered . . .

After serving a ten-year stint in prison for second-degree murder, Tom Lockman returns to Blue Ridge, broken by his experiences behind bars and filled with rage over the death of his brother, Charles, at the hands of Sergeant Bill Smithe. The only thing keeping him going is the possibility of reuniting with his wife, Jenny. But even that hope is taken from him when he sees her with another man through a window in her house.

Mad with jealousy, Tom kidnaps Jenny and hatches a plan to extort half a million dollars from Bill. If Bill doesn't pull through, Tom says, he'll kill Jenny.

Bill knows Tom is a dangerous foe. As Tom grows increasingly unhinged, and his violence against Jenny more severe, Bill and the rest of the Blue Ridge police force race against the clock to save her-and put Tom away for good.
