Who killed Dorothy Newton?
It's been said that everyone has something to hide, and the residents of Meadowvale retirement home, on the outskirts of the village of Parva Crossing, are no exception, and neither, perhaps, are some of the relatives or staff...
But could one of them be a murderer?
This is the question that Sasha Blue, private investigator, asks herself as she leaves London behind and heads back to the quaint English village of Parva Crossing, in her hunt for a killer.
Newly engaged to on-off boyfriend, Eric, Sasha is conflicted about her feelings, especially when she resumes residence at The Spotted Dog pub, only to find that Cal, the man she'd developed feelings for during her last visit, has also returned.
The residents of Meadowvale are an eclectic bunch - a writer, a retired accountant, a pair of spinster sisters both vying for the attentions of an eligible, if somewhat elderly, bachelor, a matriarchal figure obsessed with her granddaughter's society wedding, a fluttery romantic engaged to a fellow resident, and an ex-florist - and Sasha finds herself becoming increasingly fond of them as she immerses herself into their lives, both past and present.
But everybody lies...
Sasha must investigate old lives, and uncover old lies, in order to discover why Dorothy Newton was murdered, and is certain that the answer lies within the clues that Dorothy has left behind, hidden in the most extraordinary of places, but her investigation is complicated by the suspicion that there is someone in the village who wishes her harm, or possibly more than one person...
Secrets, greed, love affairs, both old and new, a good dose of mystery, another murder (or is that two?), and light humour, all weave their way through this traditional English whodunit where, it begins to seem to Sasha, just about anyone could be the killer...
Old Lies is book three in The Sasha Blue Mystery Series and readers of the series will be delighted to be reunited with some of the much-loved characters from book one, Village Lies. Old Lies is inspired by the author's great love for Agatha Christie and her hugely enjoyable crime stories.
The next book in the series is Nocturnal Lies.
Although each book may be read as a standalone there are ongoing connections between the stories which make them more enjoyable when read as a series. Books in the series so far: Village Lies, Graphic Lies, Old Lies, Nocturnal Lies.
