Crum, Jeanette: - Jeanette Smistrla Crum is a native of Wharton, County, Texas, who grew up on a farm in East Bernard, Texas, with six brothers and a sister. She is the mother of two sons and a daughter, five grandsons, three granddaughters, a great grandson, and a great granddaughter (due in June 2019). She enjoys retirement in Liberty Lake, Washington, where she lives with her youngest son and his family.Mrs. Crum has become like a Texas version of Grandma Moses since she discovered acrylic painting and drawing. Her artwork in Tales from the Chicken Yard and Other Fowl Stories is her first publicized work.Moreno, Elizabeth: - For as long as she can remember, Elizabeth Dettling Moreno was a wannabe writer. Before she began teaching at age 41, she wrote poetry and prose for her own edification. She taught for twenty four years in-the Texas public school system, with twenty of those years in junior high in Bay City.She and her husband Gabe have five grown children, sixteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild. They live near Wharton, Texas, where they have a small flock of chickens, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and one frustrated duck. They are members of Abundant Life Church in Wharton.
