Description
The apologetics of Francis Schaeffer changed a generation of Evangelicals by giving not just intellectual answers for believing in God but a paradigm for handling objections from unbelievers. Author, speaker, pastor, David R. Leigh, tells the story of how that apologetic approach came about and took the shape it did. He shows how Schaeffer's Presuppositionalism was derived from the method of his mentor Cornelius Van Til and outlines both men's approaches, comparing and exploring their differences. The result is a handbook on how to use Presuppositional Apologetics in defending the faith today. By setting Schaeffer and Van Til's methods side-by-side, Leigh both vindicates Schaeffer as a Presuppositionalist and offers a binocular perspective on how Christians can best engage unbelievers over questions of faith. The core material of this book comes from the author's Wheaton College master's thesis. Anyone interested in Schaeffer, Van Til, or apologetics (defending the faith) will find this material useful and illuminating.
