Fireworks

A novel in three acts. FIREWORKS follows a middle-aged mother of two who steps outside her routine to go on an Alice in Wonderland kind of adventure that starts with a handsome stranger and promises fireworks.

When we meet Gail, she no longer sees herself in her life. Against the judgement of her brutal inner critic, a voice she calls the Admin, Gail steps off her relentless hamster wheel to see if there's some magic left in the world she can grab for just a day. Gail accepts an offer to leave town for a few hours with Steve, a person she just met at the dentist office that morning. Their secret excursion is quickly thrown off course, and is unlucky to careen into multiple bumps along their way. However, they are just as lucky to encounter exceptional people at every turn who keep them moving forward.

While Gail and Steve do their best not to lose hope as they stay dedicated to their adventure, Gail's husband, John, finds it very difficult to hang onto hope after he discovers Gail has left town with a man he doesn't know. John launches himself into his own adventure to catch up with his wife to understand why she left and if they still have a marriage.
