Over the last 40 years, he seems to have had firsthand experience of every major conflict that has taken place in the region; including the Egyptian/Israeli conflict of 1972, the Lebanese Civil War in 1974, the siege of Beirut in 1982, the Gulf War in 1990 and the first Intifada in 1992.
