Gordon Woods is a retired physician and medical educator who credits the mythologist Joseph Campbell with liberating him to follow his path of bliss. For Gordon, that was teaching, so he left clinical practice, earned a master's degree in education, and spent the next thirty-five years working with medical students and residents. He served on the faculties of the University of California, the University of Illinois, the University of Arizona, and Texas Tech University, and received recognition from all four institutions for excellence in teaching. He wrote large volumes of instructional materials and provided critique of his students's work. He also served as Associate Editor for Internal Medicine for the peer-reviewed journal MedEdPORTAL.
After developing Parkinson's Disease, Gordon retired and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he now writes fiction. He enjoys traveling, music, and serves as an educator at the local boxing gymnasium for people with Parkinson's disease.
