When a deadly virus turns humans into flesh-craving humanimals, survival becomes a daily battle between instinct and hope. Laura Swann, a resilient teenager haunted by the loss of her family, leads an unlikely colony of survivors: eight stray cats, each bearing their own scars and stories. Among them is Charles, a timid cat with a missing hind paw and the heart of a reluctant hero, Belle, a fierce Bengal brawler, and Lily, their calico queen. They are all thrust into a collapsing world where fear and courage blur, where every echo could be a hunter and every shadow could hide ravenous decay.
The Feral Colony is a heart-pounding post-apocalyptic journey about loyalty, loss, and the power of humanity, where even the smallest creature can rise to become a warrior.
"Chad Duerksen's debut novel isn't only about the horrors that await when society breaks down, but the inherent strengths of friendship and loyalty to survive. Our world needs heroes like Laura Swann and her courageous feline companions to remind us such traits are what we should be striving for. A powerful morality tale and a satisfying, fun read!"
- John A. Brock, author of THE GREAT ICE CREAM WAR OF SUMMER 2016
