The Doors Below - Paperback

Six months after the events that nearly destroyed Briar Glen, investigative journalist Caleb Rusk is trying to move on.

The mountain is silent. The nightmares have faded. And the darkness beneath Black Hollow Mountain is buried once more.

Or so he hopes.

When an anonymous package appears on his doorstep containing an old photograph, a hand-drawn map, and a cryptic note reading YOU ONLY CLOSED ONE, Caleb is pulled into a new mystery that leads him to Newport, Virginia, and the shadows of Spruce Run Mountain Cave.

For generations, locals have whispered about strange lights deep within the mountain, voices carried on the wind, and people who vanished without a trace after hearing something calling from the darkness below. Most dismiss the stories as folklore. Others refuse to speak about them at all.

As Caleb and Nora Bellamy begin investigating a trail of missing persons, forgotten journals, and decades-old police reports, they uncover evidence that the horrors of Briar Glen were not an isolated nightmare. Hidden beneath the valleys of Southwest Virginia lies a network of ancient secrets guarded by families who have spent generations keeping watch over places that should not exist.

Places where something is waiting.

But the deeper they dig, the more unsettling the truth becomes. The phenomenon known locally as The Calling is growing stronger. People are hearing things no one else can hear. Seeing lights where no lights should be. Following voices into the mountains and never returning.

And somewhere beneath Spruce Run Mountain Cave, an ancient doorway is beginning to open.

As the line between folklore and reality begins to collapse, Caleb must confront a terrifying possibility:

The events at Briar Glen did not end the nightmare.

They only awakened it.

Atmospheric, suspenseful, and steeped in Appalachian folklore, The Doors Below expands the world of The Hollow Beneath while delivering a chilling new mystery where every valley has its secrets, every legend has a purpose, and every name hides a door.
