Cantor, a paleontologist, and Kumiko, a geneticist, team up with a quantum computer genius to reverse engineer dinosaurs from birds, planning to learn how dinosaurs behaved millions of years ago. But a ruthless oligarch arranges for changes in the bird genes that result in large and dangerous predators - the kind his wealthy clients can show off. After the growing raptors are moved from California to a ranch in New Mexico, Cantor and Kumiko believe the dinosaurs will thrive. But will they?

This is the story of scientists' desire for knowledge versus greedy profiteers. Of humans versus the deadliest of predators. Of families versus an increasing human and nonhuman menace. Of how an underdog becomes a key player in this life-or-death struggle.

Bonus illustrations bring home this dramatic experience for the reader.

Otis, Jeff: - "His first book, Raptor Lands, was published in March 2024. Currently, he has three other completed drafts of novels that are in the process of editing. His short stories appear in various anthologies, including A Diversity of Expressions, Woven Pathways, and Holes in Our Hearts. He received first-place in the humor category for a story called The Gift from Southwest Writers in 2023. Before his passion for writing took over his life, he spent much of my time as an award-winning professional oil painter. He has a bachelor's degree in anthropology and a master's in mathematics and statistics from the University of New Mexico. He taught for 10 years in the public schools after working as a statistician for 16 years. Art, writing, math, anthropology - he is a puzzle made up of pieces many people would say don't fit together. He is married and has a wonderful family. He loves writing stories that involve romance, adventure, suspense, conflict, sometimes horror, and humor."
