As he neared the end of his 40 days' wander in the sands of the Judean, an exhausted Jesus (Ewan McGregor) encountered a young man (Tye Sheridan) who-against the wishes of his stern father (Ciarán Hinds) and dying mother (Ayelet Zurer)-wished to make his own life in Jerusalem.
