Over 600 million years ago, long before dinosaurs and many animals we know today, jellyfish were already swimming in the waters.
Until recently, they were thought to be plants. Now we know that these marine animals are strong swimmers, use their tentacles to hunt several prey at once and can even produce their own bioluminescence. Due to their ability to easily adapt to different environments, jellyfish have evolved and thrived despite pollution, overfishing and a rise in water temperature.

Silvia Lazzarino is a Chilean and Italian interdisciplinary artist. She has degrees in biology and design as well as certificates in science communication and natural science illustration. She writes, illustrates and designs books and other graphic products about nature. She also teaches natural science illustration and science communication for both adults and children in universities, bookstores, schools, museums and festivals. Silvia has published three books: Misteriosas Medusas, Sueño Animal and Ciudad Silvestre. Silvia lives in the south of Chile, where she works in her studio immersed in the temperate forest.
Lawrence Schimel writes in both Spanish and English and has published over 130 books as author or anthologist in a wide range of genres, including fiction, poetry, graphic novels and children's literature. His children's books includeEarly One Morning, Bedtime, Not Playtime! and Lucky Me, which was chosen for IBBY'S Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities and also won a Crystal Kite Award from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Lawrence is also a prolific literary translator of over 200 books, including Newborns: How Baby Animals Come into the World, RO-BO and Cristina Plays, which received a starred review from Publishers Weekly. His translations have won a Mildred L. Batchelder Honor and an Américas Award Honor (twice), among other distinctions. He lives in Madrid.
