Israel A Country Study is a comprehensive book that provides an in-depth analysis of the history, geography, economy, politics, and culture of Israel. It is written by the Federal Research Division, a division of the Library of Congress, and is intended for use by researchers, policymakers, and students who want to gain a deeper understanding of the country. The book begins with an overview of Israel's history, from its ancient roots to its modern-day establishment as a Jewish state. It then delves into the country's geography, including its climate, topography, and natural resources. The authors also examine Israel's economy, looking at its major industries, trade relationships, and economic challenges. The book then turns to Israel's political system, which is described as a parliamentary democracy with a complex system of government. The authors explore the country's political parties and interest groups, as well as its foreign policy and relations with neighboring countries. In addition to its political and economic analysis, Israel A Country Study also provides a detailed look at Israeli society and culture. The authors examine the country's diverse population, including its Jewish, Arab, and other minority communities, and explore its religious, linguistic, and cultural traditions.Throughout the book, the authors provide a wealth of statistical data, maps, and other visual aids to help readers better understand the topics being discussed. Overall, Israel A Country Study is an authoritative and comprehensive resource for anyone seeking to understand the complexities of this important Middle Eastern nation.Another development resulting from the 1929 riots was the growing animosity between the British Mandate Authority and the Yishuv. The inactivity of the British while Arab bands were attacking Jewish settlers strengthened Zionist anti-British forces. Following the riots, the British set up the Shaw Commission to determine the cause of the disturbances. The commission report, dated March 30, 1930, refrained from blaming either community but focused on Arab apprehensions about Jewish labor practices and land purchases. The commission's allegations were investigated by an agrarian expert, Sir John Hope Simpson, who concluded that about 30 percent of the Arab population was already landless and that the amount of land remaining in Arab hands would be insufficient to divide among their offspring. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
