Entombed with the Entrepreneur - Paperback

He's a tradesman marked by scandal. I'm a spinster, dependent on my relatives. So how do I end up buried alive with a man I was meant to despise?

At nine-and-twenty, I've made peace with the idea of only exploring the world through the pages of scientific journals. I earn my keep by chaperoning my beautiful cousin, Vivi, and if I can dodge her mother's cruel tongue, I count the day a success. Being overlooked is the least of my concerns.

But when Vivi enlists my help in chasing off an unwanted suitor, I'm not prepared for the man in question. Mr. Black-whose giant stature nearly matches the size of his reputation-isn't meant to be kind. Or clever. Or handsome! He's the illegitimate son of a social pariah. How is he capable of making an old maid feel like the most important person in the room?

Torn between loyalty to Vivi and the urge to shield us both from heartbreak, I think I manage to keep a steady hand on the reins of our little farce. But when circumstances beyond our control throw us together, I discover that living means more than just finding a way out-it means facing the truths we're both hiding. Mr. Black may be my anchor in the dark, but if I want to survive this disaster, I must learn to stand on my own two feet and face my deepest fears.
