In San Francisco's Chinatown, middle-aged cabbie Jo (Wood Moy) and his nephew/partner Steve (Marc Hayashi) discover that their recent acquaintance, Taiwanese businessman Chan Hung, is nowhere to be found-and neither is the four grand they gave him for a taxi medallion. Their tossing of the neighborhood in search of him manages to humorously uncover aspects of contemporary Chinese-American life, in Wayne Wang's shoestring-shot directing debut.
