Details: This scintillating set is the companion to Jimmy's previously released Choice CD "The Chess Players" (COE 71023) recorded at MacDonald Studios in 1976. As with that set, this too is a masterful display of the art of the jazz piano trio featuring as before the empathetic contributions of bassist Buster Williams and drummer Billy Hart. Together in this meeting of the minds they deliver a master class in improvised music a la trio with two Rowles originals and a selection of under worked standards together with a bonus of two of Jimmy's offbeat vocals.
