Description
The Woolly Mammoth weighed about 6 tons. Some species of mammoths may have been bigger or smaller. The Woolly Mammoths also had tusks, but the Woolly Mammoth tusks were much longer than an elephant's tusks - about 15 feet. They used their tusks for fighting each other and digging in the snow. Contrary to common belief, the Woolly Mammoth was hardly mammoth in size. The ears of a Woolly Mammoth were shorter than a modern elephant's ears. Scientists can tell a Woolly Mammoths age from the rings of its tusk.
