This book examines women's experiences in Britain during the Second World War, drawing on women's own memories and archival sources. PHILOMENA GOODMAN has lectured in Women's Studies, Sociology and Politics in both further and higher education. From 1997-98 she was Coordinator of Gender Studies, Department of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds. She has published an article in the journal Gender and History.
