With Wilson In Matabeleland: Or Sport And War In Zambesia - Paperback

With Wilson In Matabeleland: Or Sport And War In Zambesia is a book written by Charles H. W. Donovan. The book is a first-hand account of the author's experiences during the Matabeleland Rebellion in 1896-97. The book is divided into two parts: the first part is about the author's travels and hunting expeditions in Zambesia, while the second part is about his involvement in the war. Donovan describes in detail the landscapes, wildlife, and people he encountered during his travels. He also provides insights into the customs and traditions of the local tribes. The second part of the book is a gripping account of the war, in which Donovan served as a scout for the British South Africa Company. He describes the battles, the tactics used by both sides, and the atrocities committed by the Matabele warriors. The book is a fascinating blend of adventure, history, and anthropology. It provides a unique perspective on a little-known conflict in African history and sheds light on the colonial attitudes of the time. With Wilson In Matabeleland: Or Sport And War In Zambesia is a must-read for anyone interested in African history, military history, or adventure literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
