Steve Ruis (1946- ) got started late in archery and was predominantly a compound bow field archer until frequent complaints about how "we weren't doing enough to help kids in archery" got him into coaching. He currently holds a Level 4 Coaching credential from USA Archery and Master Coach credential from the National Field Archery Association. Steve shoots recurves, longbows, and compound bows, but his real passion now is to elevate the coaching of archery, as that is the route through which many more people can come to enjoy the sport. Steve, born and raised in California, currently lives in Chicago, IL.
