The impetus to write While You're at School was born a few years after I was. When I returned home from kindergarten one day with the sudden awareness that I was no longer spending most of the day with my mother, I asked her what she did all day while I was in school. Her answer, repeated in reminiscences decades later, was the wellspring for this book of whimsical and realistic scenarios that I hope will help to ease childhood separation anxiety and stimulate readers' imaginations.

Weisberg, Edmund M.: - Edmund Weisberg obtained master of science and master of bioethics degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He has several years of experience in medical writing and editing, including roles as managing editor and contributing author for three dermatology textbooks, with a fourth on the way. His career has included work with Greenpeace, the International Clinical Epidemiology Network, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the University of Pennsylvania. He has been published online in Voices in Bioethics and Impakter Magazine. Edmund's interest in reading, and telling the occasional tale, may very well spring from his mother's early inspired efforts to encourage him to read... to his younger sister Jodi and her friends on the front porch. Cookies and lemonade may have been a stronger incentive for the audience, but Edmund was hooked on reading. This is his first book for children.Barr, Loel: - Loel Barr, a Kansas native, received her MFA from Wichita State University, traveled extensively, and spent many years in the Washington, DC area establishing a successful career as a freelance illustrator. She moved to the Hudson Valley in 2004, where she works on fine art pieces as well as illustration. She's the delighted grandma of Charlie, Silas, and Maria Clementine, all of whom highly recommend this book.
