Grossa, Douglas Q.: - Doug began his career as a neuropsychiatric hospital corpsman at the United States Naval Hospital in Philadelphia. There he worked for thirteen psychiatrists as their yeoman. He jokingly says, "Each doctor thought he was Christ and each claimed the other twelve were the Apostles." After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy, Doug attended Northern Michigan University. There, he majored in psychology and minored in biology. Following graduation, he drove the Pan-American Highway, ending his journey at the Panama Canal. He returned to his home in Royal Oak, Michigan, and with no work, decided to advance his studies ... in something.His father dropped him off at Central Michigan University with two suitcases and a bicycle. He received his master's degree in clinical psychology and found work at the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center for the Mentally Disabled. While working at the Center, Doug continued his studies at CMU. He earned advanced degrees in school psychology and educational administration.After Sally and Doug married, they worked on three continents. Doug worked as Director of Special Services at International School Bangkok in Thailand, as a consultant in Brisbane, Australia, and as a school psychologist in Jenison, Michigan, and Pasco County, Florida.Doug and Sally are frequent travelers. They have traveled around the world five times and visited over one hundred countries. They live in New Port Richey, Florida.
