The Minor Prophets are some of the Bible's most overlooked books. But how do you teach them to your kids?
Squeezed between the Major Prophets and the New Testament, these short books are the ones most families skip-too obscure, too ancient, too full of unfamiliar names and places. Hosea married an unfaithful wife. Amos was a farmer who picked a fight with a priest. Jonah ran from God and ended up inside a fish. And Micah predicted that a tiny village called Bethlehem would produce the greatest king the world has ever known.
But these overlooked books turn out to be essential. They're the story of a God who sends prophets when his people go wrong, who judges because he is just, and who never stops offering mercy-even to those who don't deserve it. They're the bridge between the Old Testament story and its New Testament fulfillment.
What Are the Books of Hosea-Micah? makes these ancient voices accessible for today's young readers. Covering Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah, this guide walks through all six books in a warm, conversational style that doesn't talk down to kids, with:
- Engaging illustrations from pop culture and classic literature-from Bambi to A Tale of Two Cities to The Super Mario Bros. Movie-that connect biblical themes to stories kids already know and love
- Honest engagement with difficult content-handling divine judgment, social injustice, and the tension between God's mercy and his justice in age-appropriate ways that spark real conversations
- Real-life application and discussion questions-helping kids see how prophets who confronted corruption, challenged apathy, and called for justice still speak directly to their own lives
Whether your child is learning what it means to stand up for what's right, wrestling with why God allows suffering, or ready to explore a section of the Bible they've never been taught, this book will show them that the God of the Minor Prophets is anything but minor.
Perfect for family reading, church classes, or independent study.
