After leaving the army, he worked as a GP. He was extensively involved in medical politics, both at local and national level. An established expert on the Eastern Front in 20th-century military history, his previous books include a critically acclaimed two-volume history of the siege of Leningrad. His most recent books are Into the Reich (2025) and Berlin: Endgame 1945 (2026). He now lives in France.
Lottie Taylor- studied history at St John's College, Cambridge, from 2011 to 2014 and was awarded a double- first class -honours degree. Since leaving Cambridge, she has qualified as a cordon bleu chef and has worked in -a number of- fields.
