Walter the Baker - A Classic Eric Carle Story for Early Readers
Walter the Baker is famous throughout his town for creating irresistible breads, rolls, cookies, tarts, and pies. Each morning, the Duke and Duchess eagerly await his warm sweet rolls, delivered fresh to their castle. But when disaster strikes and the cat spills the milk, Walter must serve rolls made with water instead. After one bite, the Duke throws down his roll in disgust and issues Walter an impossible challenge: take the same dough and create a good-tasting roll that the rising sun can shine through three times, or face banishment from the town forever.
