Vadali - Paperback

Throughout her life, Mary Kate Elgarten has had the things she loved taken from her-most importantly, her freedom. She is subjected to a stifling contract imposed by a nefarious syndicate wanting to profit from her beauty. After a long struggle, she breaks free and is able to find solace on a lake deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She loves her lake and the company of fellow expatriates from the high life.

However, her peaceful life is threatened by a corporate plan to develop the region into a major tourist attraction. A clash erupts between those who favor the development and those who oppose it. A lake association charter must be amended to allow the development to go forward, and an upcoming association vote becomes crucial. As the vote looms, a series of accidental deaths leads Mary Kate to suspect foul play. As she digs into her theory, she is shocked to discover the lengths to which some people will go to get what they want-including murder.
