**Dr. Abdolhossein Zarrinkoub** (1923-1999) was one of Iran's foremost historians, literary scholars, and critics. After earning his Ph.D. in Persian Literature from the University of Tehran, he taught there for many years and later served as a visiting professor at the University of California and Princeton University.
He authored numerous influential works on Persian history, literature, and literary criticism, including *Two Centuries of Silence*, *The Sea in the Pitcher*, *Through the Alley of the Libertines*, *The Record of Islam*, and *The Passing of Days*. His best-known work, *Two Centuries of Silence*, remains a landmark study of Iran's history during the first two centuries following the Arab conquest.
