The son of former NBA player Joe "Jellybean" Bryant, Kobe Bryant's life was steeped in basketball. Moving to Italy at six, he honed his skills with diverse play styles. Drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996, he was quickly traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he spent his 20-year career. He supported youth sports and education, and after retiring, won an Academy Award for his short film "Dear Basketball" in 2018.
