Traveling the River - Paperback

Whitby, Hope: - Hope Whitby is a poet, fiction writer, and haiku aficionado. She is the creator of Art in the Shop and Books in the Bay book club supporting the local Richmond art scene since 2012. Hope has received awards for her poetry from the Virginia Poetry Society and Richmond magazine. She was born and raised in Emporia, Virginia, and now lives in Richmond with her Chihuahua, Princess.Mistry, Lisa: - Petersburg, Virginia-based artist Lisa Mistry conceived and created "Traveling the River," the artwork on the cover of this book, especially for Hope's poems. Lisa used lino-carving to create an original block print representing the Nottoway River in Virginia, where Hope visited with her family as a child. Lisa's choice of block printing, evoking European and Asian printmaking traditions, reflects her heritage as well as Hope's passion for Japanese poetry forms.Hensley, Llewellyn: - Llewellyn is a recent graduate of the MFA program in Graphic Design at the Rhode Island School of Design. She also has a BFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. This combination of interests and experiences form a strong toolkit for thinking about space, hierarchy, and detail. She loves to solve problems, clarify content, and work with a team. Llewellyn is excited by large format print, environmental design work, collaboration and experimentation with digital tools.
