MacCallum, Nicky: - Nicky MacCallum is the founder of Allies 4 Equity, a training and consultation organization dedicated to promoting trauma-informed, healing-centered care in service delivery and provider wellness. With a deep commitment to survivor-centered practices, she serves on the California Department of Justice Survivor Centered Action Team. Nicky is also a faculty member with the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI), where she founded and co-chaired the HAVI Mental Health Working Group (formerly NNHVIP) for over a decade. With more than twelve years of experience as the Healing Director at Youth ALIVE!, a violence prevention, intervention, and healing organization in Oakland, CA, Nicky brings a wealth of knowledge to her work. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Nationally Certified Counselor, and CAMFT Certified Clinical Supervisor. Throughout her 30+ years in the field, Nicky has collaborated across a wide range of systems, including victims of crime services, child protective services, family reunification, juvenile justice, community mental health, foster care, school-based programs, and community violence intervention.Whitney, Que Tran: - Que Tran Whitney is a queer, Vietnamese mixed-race artist from the Bay Area, and this is the first children's book they've had the honor of illustrating. They have artist credits in a few award-winning animated short films such as "Reyna" (2022); and they love exploring mixed-race, Asian, & LGBTQIA+ themes in their work. When Que's not drawing, she loves reading, watching scary movies, and eating lots and lots of good food with her partner and horde of dogs
