This book is all you need to grasp Reform Judaism, thoughts from the first woman to play a major role in its development, Lily H. Montagu.
In the words of Montagu, this book is for those who "have enough to do already without thinking very much about their religion, parents who want their children to be faithful to Judaism, conscientious teachers who long to make their lessons alive and interesting, and Jews who are seeking to understand the value of their spiritual inheritance."
Although insightful and informative, Montagu's words are sometimes piercing and convicting, a much needed wake up call to many of us who are too involved in life affairs and are forgetting about our creator.
"This little book purposes to explain my concept of Judaism as a living religion. In endeavouring to answer the questions- What are the vital principles of Judaism? Why are they vital? How can they be applied to modern life?"
"The beauty of Judaism is useless unless we consciously assimilate it in our lives."
Lily Montague
