Potokar, Tomo: - Tomo Potokar is a humanitarian plastic surgeon of British Slovene descent. Since starting out with Médecins Sans Frontières in 1990, he has worked across the globe, providing medical care and training and supporting health workers to manage patients with burns and traumatic injuries in fragile and under-resourced environments. In 2017 Tomo was awarded an OBE for services to Global Burn Care and Prevention and in 2025 received the Medal for Honourable Conduct from the President of Slovenia in recognition of his services to humanity helping those who suffer and are in need, regardless of their origin, language, skin colour or circumstances and for providing devoted care to the injured and sick in crisis and warzones in Gaza and elsewhere around the world. Tomo has been writing for over forty years, mostly poetry and short reflections based on his travels, experiences and the many facets of human nature. This is his first published work outside of medical journals. He is married with two adult children and lives in France.
