Mark Juergensmeyer is Professor of Sociology and Global Studies and Director of the Orfalea Center for Global and International Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A scholar and writer best known for his studies of religious violence and global religion, he has also written on conflict resolution and on South Asian religion and society.
