"THEY CAN RIP THE FLESH FROM YOUR BONES, BUT DON'T EVER LET THEM BREAK YOUR SPIRIT" Rose Mary Bree - My Grandmother
The horrors of Neerkol, an Allegedly safe place and refuge for young children, are almost too difficult to comprehend.
Margaret Campbell's shocking true experience of church-sanctioned cruelty, sexual abuse and deprived behaviour by people charged with protecting innocent children is, in her own words, not the worst that happened.
Knowing that many stories will never be told, Margaret is determined to honour other victims by telling hers.
Encompassing child rape and the travesty of justice not served, this is not a comfortable read but a vignette of one of the worst crimes in recent Australian history.
